I knew all the BlondeMe lovers were going to come for me 🤣 but the results were done in a controlled setting. All with 20Vol, all at 1:2 unless manufacturers said otherwise, all no heat, all the same level 2 swatch, and all processed to maximum time the manufacturer instructed.
Bottom line: if you’re a hairstylist who loves using whatever bleach, keep using it. This video is for informational purposes only and for you to form your own opinion.
Thank you I love the video. I use blondme and if you mix it 1:2,5 it's going to have less lift ofcourse. I usually do 1:2 with 7 vol and it'll get black hair to a level 8. Also 7 vol will make it not swell weirdly enough. Don't know why
Really surprised with blondeme results.. will definitely be trying others !💕 Ty
will you be doing more professional ones like Guy Tang's, Pulp Riot's, Redken's, Loreal's, ect?
@@Narconia Guy Tang is up in Part 2 and Yes! I’m testing different lighteners from different distributors. More to come!
@@MirellaManelli ok thanks looking forward to it all! Also do you think you could test the bleach/lighteners that people find at sally's beauty supply just so we can see how it can compare to the professional stuff ?
I think it was your mixing ratio with the blondeme. 1:2.5 seems like a LOT I normally do 1:1.5
Thank you, it was an eye-opener . I did expect more from the most popular ones. Excited to try danger Jones and joico
I agree! I was expecting SO MUCH out of the popular ones. I’m excited to play around with a few in this batch.
Mirella, you're a STAR!!! Finally, an excellent video about the most known and not budget lighteners. Thanks a million!!!❤❤❤
You are so welcome!im so glad this was helpful and you enjoyed it! Stay turned for part two 😃
Blonde me can take me to a level 10 in one sitting with half 7vol and half 20vol on an afro level 2 hair in 40min in foil. Maybe the swatches are pre colored... but it leaves hair intact and strong. But i also use 1:1.5 -1:2 max
Danger jones is my faaaaaave! Glad it did so well in this battle 😆
Danger Jones surprised me, that's for sure!
This was awesome and thanks for the experiment!! Now I want to try Danger Jones!! I’m a fan of Joico but I here stylist swear by Schwarzkopf but I’m not a big fan. I will also give blondor a try as well. I work at cosmoprof pt so as soon as we have a sale I’m buying!!
Same! Make sure you watch part two of the Cosmoprof lighteners. There were some good contenders
Id love to see this again with salon centric
Coming soon! 😃
This was so helpful as a beginner stylist. I’m so glad I found your channel!
I’m so glad you found this helpful! I’m planning on making more like these 😃
Forgot Guy Tang Big 9 🙂↔️ his gets me from level 3 to level 10+ in one sitting and hair feels soooo good after 🔥
That's my fav
I just tested that one in part two.
This was so great! I know this took so much work! If you’re up to it you could do a winners video where you take the top lifting lighters, color swatches darker, and then try to lift them and see who really reigns supreme lol 😂. Either way i loved this video ❤
I love the way you think! I’m planning on doing all lighteners from all distributors. But I LOVE this suggestion! I’m may be so ambitious to do it because even though this video took us 12 hours to record and three days to edit, I had so much fun learning the results!
I'm a fan of Schwarzkopf Igora Royal Vario Blonde Plus, The blue one. Supposedly can lift 7 levels and always delivers 7 if not 8levels of lift. It can get level 2-3 Asian hair to a CLEAN 9. Also great at breaking through previously coloured hair without going brassy. They make a white "Super plus" that can apparently lift 8 levels, and on virgin hair that may be true, but on previously coloured hair the blue "plus" is a powerhouse lightener. It's even mildly successful in removing Elumen from the hair if you mix a bit of return in with your lightener. Hands down my favourite general purpose lightener.
Thanks for sharing. Sometimes I find that the lighteners that are marketed to lift less do better than the 9+ levels 😅
Such a great video and side by side comparison! I live for videos like this 😍
Thank you, it’s definitely a labor of love❤️
Thank you for these videos! Super helpful and perfect timing as I'm switching color lines.
Woah this was so helpful! So excited to try danger jones!
I have wanted someone to do this exact video for so long. Thank you!
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! There is more to come just like it 😉
And the wella is so good through previous color
That’s good to know! Lifting over color is a whole other game!
Amazing!! Some of these seriously surprised me! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching! Which ones were you rooting for? 😅
I wish you had tested guy tang and Moroccan oil too 😔
Could you test cream lighteners next?
Me too! I’m so mad at myself for that one! Moroccanoil is not sold at my Cosmoprof but I’ll be testing that one on a different video! Guess I need a part two!
Thank you for the suggestion!!!
@@MirellaManelli yay! Can’t wait for part two!! 😃
Do you think developer brands matter could u do a video on that cheap to most expensive?
Been using Wella BlondorPlex and love it. But thank you so much for this video and taking your time to inform us. Truly appreciate you!❤
Wella lifted well and felt nice! I can see why people love that one.
Thank you for watching! I’m so glad you loved the video.
I can really appreciate this video. Thanks for doing this one.
Thank you for watching! I just uploaded part two with the rest of the Cosmoprof lighteners 😅
Thank you for this video is really informative,I been wanting to try a different lightner
You are so welcome and thank you for watching❤️ Curious what you use now and what you want to try after watching this video?
Been loving High Riser from Matrix. Great lift, but hella dusty 😂 Excited to try Danger Jones.
I’ll be testing Matrix in my Salon Centric haul soon! 😉
Same! 💯
Thank you for all these swatch testing videos I’ve really been enjoying them and appreciate you!
Glad you like them! Curious if any of them surprised you? Thank you for watching ❤️
@@MirellaManelliI’ve never used rusk or wella before so I was intrigued to see how those turned out.
This was so informative! I'm a Blond Me user BUT the Danger Jones has me intrigued! Thank you for taking the time to give us this tutorial on all the manufacturers that Cosmo Prof has to offer. YOU ROCK! :)
You are so welcome and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Part two to this video is now up. 🫶🏽
omg i’m so happy u did paul mitchell im an instructor at the school and seeing another professional use it makes me so happy to understand 😂😭😭
Very excited to try the danger jones, i donuse blonde me but i use it with their 7 vol mostly. Low and slow
This video is so informative! Thank you ❤
Glad it was helpful!
I’d love to see this type of video with the toners!! 🙌👍
I created one for the Kenra rapid toners if you want to check that out, but thank you so much for the suggestion!
I really enjoyed this video! You did such a good job clearly showing the process and the afters! I would love to see more videos like this! 🤩
More to come!
Thank you so much!
I really love the schwarzkopf clay bleach the white powder and that one is dust free and the lift is awesome
I've also been eyeing Danger Jones every time I'm in Cosmoprof. Will be testing if soon❤
Let me know how you like it!
Great Video. by the way, the wella developer is Welloxon. And I don´t like the Schwarzpf Devveloper. I have that too and it is the worst I ever had.
Ohh this was fab I’m really trying not to lift with 30vol anymore so much less breakage 😮so yes totally get why your trialing all these with 20vol pretty good really would of liked more level 9 too but 2 shade is very dark thanks so much ❤ brilliant vid
Exactly!! Thank you for watching ❤️
Joico Blonde life is our go to! But so excited to try some of the others.
1st Thx a million for this!!! I've tried many of these but been a serious Goldwell user for 15+yrs. Basically, the mixing ratio is anywhere from 2:1 to 1: 1.5 (I prefer)! Also, thicker @ 1:1.5 and more LIFT!!!
Thank you for making this video 💕 I'm worried about you inhaling all that bleach! Haha. Sometimes I wear a mask when I mix lightener
😅 dont worry. They are the tiniest bits of sniffs 😆 thanks for watching ❤️
I’ve always used blonde life, but theswelling sometimes was bad and some batches don’t mix well or are clumpy. I switched to goldwell oxycur and love it. It mixes so quick and so easy and never bleeds.
Thank you!
Love this video. I use joico personally but have used blondor in the past at my previous job... definitely feel joico does a better job.
Almost wondering if those swatches had a coating or something on them because i feel like some of them definitely give better results than what was shown!
❤❤❤
Joico did an amazing by job in this test. There are other factors to consider like body heat, mixing ratios, etc. The swatches are virgin hair but I think this gave a pretty good result considering the above.
Joico blonde life 9+ is my go to. I’ve used it for like 10 years. I done a test like this of the joico sliver vs the 9+ and 9+ was way better.
This video was so interesting, great overall! I was surprised by the results tho. I absolutely loath joico blonde life, I found it to be so drying & damaging/didn’t ever lift well. Blondeme has been my fav & easily gets to a level 10, but I do hate the swelling :(
I also wonder about the quality of the swatches you purchased. I feel like that has a lot to do with the results. Maybe the hair is actually a blend or has a coating over it. Buying from Amazon is so tricky!
Oxycur is great for on-scalp application, 1:1.5 ratio.
Good to know! I’ll definitely keep that in mind. So far my salon is loving the Joico silver light for on scalp
USE Occur is Great For on Scalp Applications ❤Mireilla Manelli She Use Prem Mix Brown liner. WOW She Got Bleach Mox HighLights Together That is So CuteGorgeous Shampoo and conditioner. USE The Scooper. What is Kind Of Color
@MirellaManelli .. Sorry but sometimes you didn't mention which volume of developer you were using with these... Did you only use 20 volume with all of these? Do you think some of them may have turned out better?Had you used 30 volume?
@@susanwhite7202 they were all 20 volume for a controlled setting. With this test you can imagine what 30 would do but I avoid that developer in most cases.
@@MirellaManelli was using 30 volume okay with the manufacturer's directions? And if so , most of them would have done a full nine levels of lift more than likely?
What about framesi and Moroccanoil also CHI and GUY Tang
Moroccanoil is not sold at Cosmoprof in SoCal but I will have to make a part 2 for the Guy Tag and others I missed 😩
I wish you tried the framesi lightener that one is my fav !
I did! It’s in part two! Link to that video is in the description 💖
Thank you so much for getting rid of all my guess work!!!
You're welcome!! Let me know what you decide to use and if it works as well as you hoped! 🫶🏽
Wow! That Joico Silverlight did so good!
I know! I was impressed by that one too.
Wil you do do L'Oréal Blond Studio?? Please :) I would like to know your opinion about it, and THANK YOU for this video !!
This is one of many! Thank you for watching and for the suggestion ❤️
I love Schwarzkopf BlondMe mixed with Ardell red gold corrector plus
You mix it together in the same bowl?
@@MirellaManelli Yes. I follow the ratio on the packaging and then I add 1 full packet of Red gold corrector plus to that. I also use Schwarzkopf 30 volume instead of their 20 to give it a little extra lift. My natural hair is lighter than the level 2 color that was tested in this video. When I do one full 30-45 minute process, I get really blonde results.
@@lusciouslummie7464 interesting! I’m going to have to try this hack
I have to say I love blondme.
I’ve been using it on scalp for a friend of mine with level 3 hair for about a year.
Her stylist burnt a massive amount of her off about 5 years ago and I helped her to grow her hair in a healthy way again for about 4 years but the lightener I was using before blondme wasn’t giving us what we needed. We spoke about our options and decided to try it.
Her and I can see and feel the huge difference that using blondme has made in the results of the colour outcome and the health of her hair.
We have even used it for overlapping her fragile blonde hair to pull out old toners and there has been no damage at all.
It’s a great product in my opinion!
Edit: I always mix at a 1-1:5 ratio
The lift you got doesn’t represent my experience with blondme.
It’s never given me that yellow/ orange of a result.
I already knew BlondeMe users would be in disbelief 😅 but these are the results based on recommended manufacturer’s instructions. And I mixed them all similarly in strength to give them a fair chance.
There are other factors to consider like natural warmth so maybe that plays a huge role in the success in the lightener.
Bottom line this video is not to sway you in one way or make you change your lightener. if it works for you then don’t change it. Everyone has different experiences and results based on the canvas they are working on, technique, and results they are trying to achieve.
Personally I’ve never loved BlondeMe. It’s an OK lightener but not my first choice and I do think this test proved why.
Blondorplex will get a level 2 to a 9 or 10 using fine woven sections saturated very well. They say not to use heat with all of their lightening products but they also sell the Climazon processor, which is heat, BUT it doesn’t get any hotter than body temp. So the mid lengths get the same amt of heat as the scalp.
U should try use all 30% developer instead. It could lift hair lighter ,Body heat could help. But ur foil with bleach no body heat. That why less lift.
Legit been trying to find the best lightener… as well as color remover to get my uneven mess of old color under my current color
We use BlondMe at my salon and it cam lift hair beautifully but I still dislike it. It swells a lot, is crazy watery and so expensive at 800+ mxn a tub.
I've been trying BlondorPlex which is more affordable, I prefer the slightly whiter tone to it and that it smells softer than BlondMe yet still lift hair just as nicely. I still gotta try more to know what works well and it's price isn't over the roof.
I love this kind of videos, thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing!! I love hearing everyone’s perspectives
If they could tape it to the underside of the lid that would be great
Love Wella blondor
I worked at a salon where we primarily used Wella and often times the Wella Prof website had powder lighteners and developer were out of stock. When we would order it from Cosmoprof it was usually out of stock too lol. Very common for blondor and blondorplex
Also I think it's worth mentioning that we are told to use blondorplex on clients with "compromised hair" like I used it in the past on my over-processed hair and it can definitely help but works best if you do the whole system (Wellaplex No.2 and No.3)
Good to know! Thanks for sharing 😀
I don’t see Schwarzkopf Vario blond super plus. It’s amazing. I’ve tried lots and it’s the best all around for me
Ill have to try that one!
I think the claims to achieve 9+ levels just means it’s a more aggressive lightener. Taking a level 2 to 9/10 in one sitting as thick as those swatches are is a bit of an expectation. I think we all know that we as the stylists/operators can manually achieve 9+ levels of lift on a natural level 2 by using our knowledge in taking thin sections and by wiping and re-applying , managing developer strengths using all of these products with success . I actually think that the most moisturizing/ gentle one there with more emollients is probably the best choice . Going that light requires as much moisture as possible.
Great video...maybe there was a problem with the swatches
Thank you! Definitely not, they are virgin level 2 swatches
Bless your heart!!!!! As a cos student I love this !!
You are so welcome! I’m glad it was helpful. Stay tuned for more ❤️
I love joico cream, lighter!
Hola mi amiga, i didn't see Mydentity Big 9
I would love to see the winners of both videos maybe against box dye? 👀
Great idea!
I’ve watched all these lightners done. Why does everything still look so blorangey? Is it the lighting? Some of them still look like lvl 7s to max 8. But when you were holding them up at the end some looked super light. What lighting was overhead when y’all filmed this? Blondor is my go to lightener and I have tried a lot of these. Blondor also has extra cool which has a turquoise like control factor. What level finder are you using as well? Appreciate this informative video. Can you share the link to buy those nice chunky swatches. I used to get mine through wella rewards programs or pivot point but those thick pieces are much better for technique practicing.
The lighting for our over head camera was definitely a little off. We are working to improve for the next video. ❤️ but overall you can see that yes, most of them lifted warm. The ones I held up did get pretty light so what you see is reflecting of that.
Blonder definitely did well! It lifted to a level 8 with 9s running through.
The level finder I used was from Kenra color book
I also added the link to the swatches in the description of this video.
Thank you for the feedback and for watching 🫶🏽
I mainly use bleach for my roots, do you think the swelling is a problem and leads to overlapping? Are there any ways to decrease the swelling?
100% yes! Swelling contributes to overlap.
Usually I do 2 things to prevent this:
1. Use cotton between your foils
2 Apply with precision
Unfortunately you cannot prevent lightener from swelling. They all swell at different rates. Based on what I tested, I think the Joico Silverlight or the Wella might be great options for on scalp.
Cream lighteners are also great but I plan on testing those too!
Unfortunately with the wella blondorplex 9 the result you get won't be accurate without the correct developer you need to mix it with welloxon developer to get the best result also the best mix ratio for blonder results is 1:1.5 as 1:2 will actually dilute the powder and give you less lift
I use Blondor and don’t get great results with blonde me developer because it’s Oil based.
Interesting. What do you use?
We used goldwell in cos school. I hated it😅 it swells pretty bad and tends to bleed if you don’t leave a lot of room for it to expand
😅 thanks for watching
I was curious if you tried the guy tang big 9
I missed that one! 😩 I’m going to do a part 2 for the lighteners I missed!
@@MirellaManelli much love thanks
As a blondme user I am surprised because it always lifts so well for me. But I usually mix mine 1-1.5, I feel like the lifting power is a lot better with that ratio. It does tend to swell but it swells less if you use less developer.
Also obviously I’m always taking much thinner sections than a swatch
Natural warmth from the head is also a contributing factor. But imagine using 20Vol, thicker sections, and it actually lifting with no warmth? That’s the part that got me with this test.
Of course we can mix less developer or do things to make the lightener work better for us. I was just so surprised it did as poor considering the popularity and others lifted 2 full levels under the same conditions 🤯
Why didn’t you try the Matrix lightener?
I’m saving that one for the salon centric lighteners video
Why are you only using 20 volume developer? Especially with a black hair sample? Obviously its not going to lift enough 37:36 with that little amount of volume. I use 20 volume for the toner! And i use 40 developer for my roots/ hair and i use wella color charm and my hair isnt even that dark its a dirty /dark blonde. I see alot of people using the 20 volume with the bleach though and maybe there’s something i am missing something here? Do you have any advice on why you only use the 20 volume to lighten so much at one time? I mean for how dark the hair is it’s obviously doing an awesome job! I’ve been doing my own hair for like ten years and was thinking about using the blondeme but honestly it didn’t work that well at all compared to the wella color charm i use. So idk? 🤷♀️ great video though! ❤
The lower the developer the less damage. Most hair brands do not recommend 40vol at all. You can achieve 9-10 levels with 10vol but there is an art to it. 20Vol is what most hairstylists will use which is why I’m choosing 20vol for this test
Wonder what old Clairol BW2 would have done? Can’t be used for on scalp but..
I’ll be DEFINITELY testing the Sally’s bleach lighteners in a future video because I’m curious too!
Think u can buy BW2 in a envelope for one application..don’t have to buy a tub
I use to use it years/ ago but I’d always put a 1/2 tsp of safflower oil in it to buffer it. Suppose u could put K-18 in it or oleplex ?
What about Matrix high riser And Guy Tang bleach
I just uploaded Part 2 to this video featuring Guy Tang. However I’m saving Matrix for the Salon Centric haul 😉
Ive tried the joico line of lighters and I’ve never had as much breakage as I’ve experienced with joico… I’ve used the blonde me and my breakage had been little to none… it’s more of a thing why I do like that blonde me was because of how it didn’t kinda make me feel self conscious of loosing and having breakage
I started off with joico when I got licensed and felt that it left my clients super dry. I was stunned because it claims to be coconut oil developer which i really was excited about. I recently changed to BlondeAF by pulpriot. Still not sure but I might have to go back to Wella, it’s what we used in school.
I tested more lighteners out and there are some that leave that hair feeling amazing. So if that’s your main concern, I would watch the part two and the salon centric lighteners and see if there is something that stands out to you.
Joico can feel a little on the dry side in comparison to the others I tested
Thank u , what about matrix
I’m going to save that one for the Best Lighteners at Salon Centric 😃
Coming soon!
Yes Matrix High Riser
Thank u , Mirella ! Always watching your videos . Hi from chicago
Im assuming they were sold out of big 9 or magnum 8 from mydentity
It literally slipped my mind 😩 I’m going to have to do a part two!
@MirellaManelli lol that's alright. I love those lighteners though, they're so good! It would be awesome to see how it compares to the rest of the lighteners available at cosmo :)
@@rainbowboyu most definitely! I feel bad for forgetting about several lighteners. It’s crazy how many there are!
The Schwarzkopf blondeme is more potent in a 1:1,5 ratio. It will give a light level 9 after 45mins
I’m sure all of them would have more lift with less developer. Less developer = stronger formula & thicker lightener too! That’s why I tested them similarly to give them all a fair chance. I still am not impressed by the results BlondeMe gave considering the popularity. There are others that do better with more conditioners and buffers. 😢
BlondeMe is my absolute favorite!
I'm a blonder girl and I personally don't think the plex one lifts as well, I prefer any lighters to not contain the plex, if I want it I can add it myself! I like matrix too but the danger jones looks interesting!
Good to know. I tried matrix in my most recent video and I was surprised by the results as well too.
I don't really understand stylists insistence on not using above a 20 volume only healthy, dark hair. Sure if they're Caucasian with light hair, no need to go above a 20. But I have middle eastern and Hispanic friends that just won't lift near satisfactory with 20vol. Longer exposure time and repetitive lightening will also damage the hair significantly even at lower levels. I'd love to see a version of this video with 30 volume or even 40.
Love this suggestion! And I agree. Doing dark hair sometimes requires higher developer. I used 20Vol as a general reference so the ones that did well, you know will do even better with a higher developer.
Note: most lighteners do not recommend 40vol.
@@MirellaManelli 20 probably is a great middle reference point for the video. I definitely don't use 40 volume very often. Really just that middle eastern friend because even with thin, thickly painted foils, it won't lighten to a 10 in one go.
Cool experiment but I wish we could have seen it on virgin hair
This is virgin hair ..
Swear by blonde me but tell me why I didn’t know it was a 1:2.5 😮 I love it because it has oil in the developer so it works longer since it doesn’t dry out 🙏🏼 for my clients who like blonde like a level 7-10 I use blond me and for less lift I’ll do redken flashlift for ppl who want a level 8-5 😊
Blonde me can be done at 1:1.5 or 1:2.5 😃 I know most of us process longer than the recommended time but BlondeMe had a specific processing time which I stuck to.
I thought we weren’t supposed to use metal wisks with lightener or colors?
If the directions said “do not mix with a metal bowl” then I didn’t use it.
The swatches you have on the “level finder” for levels 8-10 are a lot darker and brassier than what I consider levels 8-10 to be. 8-10 shouldn’t have so much brass undertones but more yellow/pale yellow. The outcome of those bleached swatches look more like an underlying pigment of 61/2 or 7 to me.
The swatches she's comparing them to are untoned swatches at the correct level.
Schwarzkopf the best Lightner out there
I had some real problems with joico and I won't ever use it again, especially now with charcoal, no thanks
30 volume?
Bleach lighters, if it does exist it’s out there!! 😂hilarious …🤣👽👽👽🛸🛸🛸🛸😂
You didn’t get Lanza powdered lightner ..
I did in the Salon centric video. Go take a peek 👀
The hair: 🎃 her: a perfect level 9
🤨
Why did you just use 20 vol on level 2 hair? You would need 30 vol to get that level 10 you're after or in some cases 40.
I did so to keep it fair. Some of these lighteners manufacture instructions suggest up to 30 vol or up to 40 vol. However every lightener is consistent with being able to mix 20 vol.
Blondme does way better than that! I can get more lift with even the 7 vol. 😢 I always mix 1:1 or 1:1.5
I think all these lighteners do better than what was tested because of many factors like body heat, mixing ratios, reapplication, breaking the rules with timing. But if you know how to use lightener, any of them can work well.
Disappointed that I didn’t see Framesi
That’s coming on part two this Sunday! 😃
No guy tang is disappointing.
I just uploaded part 2 featuring Guy Tang. Can’t wait for you to see the results.
Yeah I really don’t think any of those swatches you bought are virgin. I’ve used those bleaches on virgin hair and they work way better then those swatches are telling me
They are definitely virgin 😅 Natural warmth also plays a huge role in lift.
Using the developer from another brand for Blondor Plex 9 was very unprofessional... I can not trust your test😆
I’m all about giving the lightener a fair chance. I couldn’t with this one but it did perform well 😅
She's not applying enough first of all, and she's trying to lighten thick swatches not how we do in salon sections should be thin depending on what your trying to acheive
If you think you can do better, make your own video.
This explains enough for me regardless of the application amount.
Hi Laura! I’m sorry your favorite lightener didn’t do well. For your concern about application: I took approximately 4-5 minutes to apply per swatch and well, you know how long this video is. I didn’t want to bore you with brushing it on.
Thanks for watching though.
Ps. This video was made for informational and entertainment purposes only. Do what you want with your choice of lightener. It’s your business, not mine ❤️
I don't like this video out of the 9 i watched. Too much talikng
Would you have preferred sign language? How else would you do a comparison video?
Thanks for watching
BlondeMe has always been my go to favourite BUT … After watching this I’m going broaden my horizons & try something new. Thank you 🫶🏻
I would love to know your thoughts after exploring some other options 🫶🏽
